I have came across some information that Lawrenceburg Speedway may close down next year. Please write to the following address to keep it alive. Yea, maybe Greg Staab changed the track alittle, but we could lose racing there period. Lawrenceburg has been racing every Saturday night for almost 50 years. Please, we do not want this to end. Voice your concern about keeping it alive.
Thanks

SAVE the 'BURG"

As many of you Race Fans, Drivers, Crews, Supporters, and Media members
already know Jerry Carroll, former
owner of Turfway Park, and current owner of the new KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY is
interested in buying the
Lawrenceburg Speedway and Fairgrounds. In a January 7 1999 article in
the Cincinnati Enquirer Mr. Carroll's
plans are to do away with the 1/4 mile track that exists today, and
build a new 1/2 mile track that would only run six
to eight Special shows a year thereby ending weekly grass roots racing
that has been a tradition at the
Lawrenceburg Speedway for some 50 years. Although Carroll wanted to buy
out Greg's lease for this year, racing
will go on as scheduled for the 1999 season, but as for the future of
the 'Burg in 2000 and beyond no one knows
what is going to happen for sure!! Whether you are a weekly race fan,
Driver, Crew member, Track or Car
Sponsor who lives in the Greater Cincinnati/Southeastern Indiana area,
or one of the many who travel from other
areas of the country to see the great action that takes place on the 1/4
mile bull ring that is the
LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY, you can do something to keep the TRADITION
ALIVE!!! WHAT CAN YOU
DO TO HELP? If you are interested in helping to "SAVE the 'BURG", see
the list of names, addresses and
numbers of the Mayors office and City Council members for the City of
Lawrenceburg. Let these public officials
know how you feel about possibly losing a great tradition, The
"Legendary" LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY.
The most effective way to let Mayor Melvin Gabbard and Council know is
by writing a letter to them stating you
concerns for the proposed plan to sell the property, which will put an
end to the weekly racing that has been a part
of Lawrenceburg for many years.

Mayor of Lawrenceburg: Melvin L. Gabbard City Council Members: William
E. Cunningham; Lewis McAdams;
Thomas Rowlett, Sr.; Steve Lucier; and William Hoffmeier. Letters should
be sent to 405 Main St., Lawrenceburg,
Indiana, 47025 the Phone number is (812) 537-1676

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Keith Wendel and Greg
Staab
